Metal cans heat very quickly but once the candles have burnt out the cans cool very quickly. It is also much easier to construct than using cans. A candle flame only puts out so much heat and it s small compared to even a modest electric space heater. The idea is a simple one terracotta heats up slowly and retains the heat quite well so if you take three or two terracotta pots and put them one inside the other with space for air to move in between then the terracotta absorbs the heat from one single candle.
